Linda Willey, 2009 Agent of the Year Award

Nags Head Insurance Executive Named IIANC Agent of the Year

The Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina (IIANC) is pleased to announce that Linda E. Willey, Vice President and Treasurer of J. Fletcher Willey Agency, Inc. in Nags Head, NC, has been named as IIANC's 2009 Agent of the Year.

Selected annually, this award recognizes the North Carolina agent who has demonstrated outstanding service to his or her agency, professional association, the insurance industry, community and family. The award was presented to Willey during IIANC's Annual Convention held October 11-14, 2009 at the Hilton Head Marriott, Hilton Head Island, SC.

“I am honored to receive the Agent of the Year Award from an organization with which I am so proud to be affiliated. Being involved with IIANC has provided me with incredible opportunities and invaluable professional development," stated Willey.

A 23-year veteran of the insurance industry, Willey has been actively involved in IIANC’s legislative affairs for many years and this past year served as Chairman of the association’s Legislative Committee.

Willey is dedicated to community service as well. She is co-founder of two community outreach programs: Hands for Hope, an organization that offers a volunteer-driven community care team to cancer patients in Dare County; and Food for Thought, which sends a nutritious backpack of food home with elementary school children who may not receive any substantial food on the weekends. Willey currently serves as treasurer for the local Airport Authority and is on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Aquarium, as well as being involved with the Hospital Development Council, Red Cross and Manufactured Housing Commission.

The Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina (IIANC) is a professional trade association representing nearly 1000 independent insurance agencies and branches across the state. The mission of IIANC is to advocate for independent insurance agents and to satisfy the business and professional needs of its members.
